Cucinella Elementary Courtyard Garden Overview

The preliminary planning of the courtyard garden includes building raised garden beds to plant vegetables that will be harvested and donated to the food pantry. The secondary goal is to plant a pollinator garden.

This spring, 2022, we purchased three raised Veg Trug garden beds as well as potato bags, gardening tools and received a generous amount of donations from local businesses to plant our pollinator garden as well. To culminate our project at the end of the school year we hosted an Open House to recognize our new learning space and thank our sponsors for their generous donations. View the video to see our progress.

We would like to see the space grow especially since we have aquired more funding to specifically enhance our vegetable garden.

We welcome all ideas, suggestions and guidance to make our courtyard a beautiful new learning space.

Funding-How are we making it happen?

Garden Funding.jpg

Our fundraising began with a plant sale fundraiser at our very own Ort Farms.

Through the efforts of Cucinella LDTC, Ms. Tracy Swain, we were able to acquire a $500 grant through Visions Federal Credit Union and two, $200 through the Roots and Shoots Organization. Our PTO was also able to secure a $200 grant through Roots and Shoots as well as a $3,000 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation.

We are working towards finding additional funding through other grant opportunities, but if you are interested in making an open donation to our cause you can do so through our MemberHub Open Donation link.

Kindly note your family donation should support the Courtyard Garden Project.

You can also make a contribution of supplies through the Amazon Wishlist the committee has created to supplement our efforts.
